The introduction of the Act has been a milestone for the rights of disabled people. It places responsibility on owners of public buildings to ensure that people with disabilities are afforded easy access.

 Manufacturers such as Abloy have developed a range of products that facilitate compliance with the DDA which we are pleased to recommend to our clients. These include, for example, the DA400 swing-door operator equipped with an integral microprocessor. This provides 23 digitally programmable functions including adjustable door opening times and speeds. The DA400’s adjustable safety features are of course particularly important to people whose movements are restricted. 

Systems such as the DA400 can therefore form part of a hands-free access control without compromising security.
